great family suite but could use better amenities

The family suite offered a generous space that accommodated us well. The staff were exceptionally welcoming, making our stay feel comfortable.

Christmas decorations could be more elaborate.

Historical significance, Characterful rooms, Charming lounges

The hotel seriously needs a facelift!!! The communal areas looked shabby, outdated carpets were common, and some rooms were poorly cleaned. Hot water was inconsistent—definitely a disruptor for the experience!!!

    clean rooms
    fantastic views
    golf clubhouse
    lack of cleaning service

Had a great time with friends! We loved the clean rooms and the fantastic views. The golf clubhouse and pro shop were fun spots for us to hang out. Just a heads-up, breakfast starts at 8, so plan your mornings accordingly!

One downside was the lack of daily cleaning services in the rooms, which was a bit disappointing.

It was just a proper fit for short visits in Buxton with good value. The breakfast served until 10am made mornings easy after a long journey. Consider arriving early if you're using on-street parking to secure a spot.

    fresh breakfast
    comforting lounge
    tricky shower

We recently enjoyed a lovely two-night stay in the classic double room, and it was a treat to wake up to fresh tomatoes and mushrooms for breakfast! The lounge area was great for unwinding with a book, and we appreciated the game room too. One minor hiccup was the shower, which took a minute to figure out, but it didn’t put a damper on our relaxing getaway. 😊

    central location

    historic charm
    lift issues
    service delays

Fantastic central location near the Opera House. The staff were friendly and accommodating, which made a positive impact on my stay. The room was comfortable and clean, with a nice view of the nearby park. Breakfast selection and quality were good, though the service was a bit slow at times. The hotel has a lot of character, with its historic decor adding charm. the lift was quite dated, which posed a challenge with mobility issues. Could also use some refurbishment to enhance the overall experience. Still, I enjoyed my time here, especially the relaxed atmosphere after shows at the Opera House.
